An initiative by the Carbon Trust offers help on cutting carbon emissions throughout supply chains to businesses seeking to reduce energy bills as well as their carbon footprint:

Firms offered help shrinking carbon footprints

When I grew up, conservation was on everyone’s mind, to the extent that I was given an OCD-like tic about turning off the lights when I leave a room. Most blue-collar dads of “back in the day” would be horrified to discover how much waste there is in the world, and how much money could be saved by curbing it. From the article:

It said the two businesses had between them cut carbon emissions by 28,000 tonnes – the equivalent of the annual emissions of 5,000 households – and saved £2.7m a year.

Another item to horrify old-school pops everywhere: the idea there’s anything British businesses can do that U.S. businesses can’t.
